Zo was a Jasmine Island protector during the 100s AG. Alongside his team, he became entangled in Jasmine Island's political crisis of the time, investigating a major theft and the activities of Xai Bau, the eventual founder of the Red Lotus. Zo was also a member of the Risen Wave, an anti-Fire Nation faction on the island.

History

Zo grew up on his parents' tea farm, high up on one of Jasmine Island's mountains. When he was young, the island was invaded by the Fire Nation military under Admiral Yueya, an event later dubbed "The Devastation". Though the invasion was ultimately unsuccessful, it caused great suffering and destruction. The farm of Zo's family was damaged during the fighting. Afterward, Zo helped his parents rebuild, yet he felt increasingly drawn away from his rural home to the island's main settlement.

He eventually left the family farm and joined the Jasmine Island protectors, the island's security forces and main law enforcement agency. He trained to fight with a staff, and was posted to the main settlement's market. There, he enjoyed his duty of stopping fights and arresting thieves. In the 100s AG, Jasmine Island entered a phase of political turmoil, with various factions emerging to influence the country's trajectory. Feeling somewhat lonely, Zo joined the militant Risen Wave party to make friends. This faction favored anti-Fire Nation policy and emphasized that the islanders had to prepare themselves for outside threats.

The infighting among the political factions escalated into a full crisis when new elections for Jasmine Island's ruling council were announced. The disputes on Jasmine Island worsened when missions of the Air Acolytes as well as the Order of the White Lotus, including Iroh and Piandao, arrived on the island. The order members were seeking Xai Bau, a renegade revolutionary who had allegedly become active on Jasmine Island. Zo's team, including Ganzaya, Kim Jin, Kosui, and Thaki, was present to greet these arrivals. Once the protectors had escorted the foreigners to the council hall, they learned that someone had stolen a bag of golden jasmine seeds from the yearly harvest, a symbolically potent and disruptive action.

The protectors' leader, Wei, ordered Zo's team to investigate the theft, reasoning that the group included members of various political factions and thus might be reasonably neutral. The group thus visited the headquarters of the Autumn Leaves, Climbing Vines, Antiquarians, and Risen Wave, questioning and seeking clues. The group eventually uncovered the thief's identity, and the influence of Xai Bau on the Autumn Leaves faction. Furthermore, the investigation directly impacted the upcoming elections of the Jasmine Island council.

Personality

Zo was rather closed-off, coming across as chilly and stern perfectionist who was proud to help safeguard Jasmine Island. Yet he actually sought friends, though had difficulties expressing his feelings.

Abilities

Zo was well trained with a staff, using it with pinpoint accuracy in battle.
