Ziming was a detective who worked for the police force of the Middle Ring of Ba Sing Se. She was motivated to prove herself, and earn the respect of a police force that doubted her credentials and her cunning.[1]
History
Ziming was born in Ba Sing Se, and grew up in a strict family of city guards. She was the youngest of five siblings, and despite her intelligence, she was aware that she owed a lot of her career advancement to her family ties. This made her even more determined to prove her credentials and cunning as a detective. She regularly used an informant named Ibuki to get information on various criminal enterprises in the city.[2]
Ziming noticed a spike in crime since the Flying Koi Carnival came to town. Though Ziming's colleagues dismissed the correlation, Ziming could not let go of the feeling that the carnival itself was to blame.[2]
She learned of the case of a wealthy young woman named Rose going missing after attending the Flying Koi Carnival. Ziming met up with Rose's mother, Lei, and they concluded that something nefarious must have happened to Rose.[3]
Personality
As a detective, Ziming was both eager and naturally suspicious. She felt insecure about herself, which manifested in nervous habits such as touching her hair, repeating or second-guessing herself, and becoming swiftly defensive.[3]
Abilities
Ziming was incredibly bright, which made her a great detective, although her credentials and cunning were doubted by many on the police force.[1][2]
