Yiko was a Fire Nation colonist and the son of Yeoh. Protected by his father's status, he acted as the "town bully" of Linsho and abused other citizens, especially Earth Kingdom natives. His actions contributed to the Restorationist–Loyalist conflict.[1][2]
History
Yiko was born to Yeoh, a Fire Army general. Growing up without a mother, he was spoiled by his father and thus became used to living with great privileges.[1][3] After Yeoh retired, he and Yiko moved to Linsho, a former Fire Nation colony in the Earth Kingdom. As his father held great prestige due to his past position, Yiko quickly realized that he could get away with almost anything without punishment by the local authorities. The boy thus gathered a crew of school friends and began to bully native Earth Kingdom children. At one point, he even began stealing from Linsho's merchants.[1] Yiko's abusive and criminal actions deeply disappointed his father, straining their relationship.[1][3]
Eventually Linsho was affected by the Harmony Restoration Movement, including the temporary deportation of Fire Nation settlers. Though Yiko's family was able to return to their home at the town after the Harmony Restoration Movement's termination,[3] Yiko began to realize that his old privileges were gradually stripped away as the world was changing. This made him both angry and fearful, especially as he understood that his own reputation was negatively impacting his father's image in Linsho.[1][4] By his teenage years, he had become desperate to somehow fix the consequences of his past behavior, but he did not know how. This made him even more dangerous, as he was prone to channel his confusion and insecurity into ill-conceived actions.[1][2]
Personality
Outwardly, Yiko was haughty and aggressive, but this hid his deep insecurity. He desired to prove himself worthy to his father, but was deeply unsure how to achieve this after misbehaving for years. Undisciplined and used to privileges, he struggled with opening up to Yeoh regarding his issues, as he did not want to appear even more insecure. Overall, Yiko was a "good kid" deep down despite his difficult behavior.[1]

Trivia
- Yiko, alongside Ge, is mentioned by Storm Over Linsho as one possible culprit for the arson attacks escalating the Restorationist–Loyalist conflict. If Yiko was responsible, his actions were an attempt to project his anger outward as well as to aid his father's cause. Despite this, he would be manipulated by Ria and be remorseful over the violent consequences of his actions.[4]
