- This article is about the Jasmine Islander and martial artist. For the technologist, see Thi.
Thi was a martial arts teacher and a leading member of the Risen Wave, an anti-Fire Nation political faction on Jasmine Island during the 100s AG.
History
Thi was a native of Jasmine Island and experienced the political crisis of her homeland in the 100s AG.[1] At the time, new elections for the island's ruling council had been announced, causing various political factions to bitterly feud in an attempt to gain the electorate's support. The Risen Wave were a hardline anti-Fire Nation group,[2][3] and Thi joined the faction due to believing that outsiders posed a grave threat to the island.[1][4] Within the Risen Wave, Thi became the group's leading martial arts teacher, instructing volunteers as the party attempted to improve the islanders' defensive abilities.[1][3] She also gathered intelligence for her faction, learning that revolutionary Xai Bau had been secretly active on Jasmine Island for a short time, forging contacts with the Autumn Leaves faction.[5]
The political crisis on Jasmine Island eventually continued to escalate. A mission of the Order of the White Lotus including Iroh and Piandao arrived on the island, seeking Xai Bau, with several factions disliking the foreigners' presence.[2][6] Thi deemed Iroh and Piandao potential enemies due to them being Fire Nationals.[1][4] Furthermore, it became known that someone had stolen a bag of golden jasmine seeds from the yearly harvest, a symbolically potent and disruptive action.[2]
The Jasmine Island protectors quickly started to investigate the theft of the seeds, regarding the Risen Wave as potential suspects. A team of protectors, consisting of Ganzaya, Kim Jin, Kosui, Thaki, and Zo visited the group's headquarters.[7][8] Interrupting one of her martial arts classes, Thi offered to act as their temporary guide, explaining the Risen Wave's training efforts as a response to potential aggression by foreign powers. She also outlined her belief that Iroh and Piandao had been sent by Fire Lord Zuko to intimidate the islanders.[8]
Personality
A determined and martial person, Thi believed that it was her duty to protect the Jasmine Islanders from outside threats, mainly the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom. As part of the Risen Wave, she considered herself a kind of "spymaster", gathering intelligence for her party's cause.[1]
Abilities
Thi was a powerful earthbender and martial artist, with her specialty being kickboxing and the use of earth gloves. She was also a decent teacher as well as a capable informant.[1]

Trivia
- Thi, alongside Jia, Aputi, and Hideo, is mentioned by Return & Regrowth as one possible culprit for the theft of the golden jasmine seeds. If she was responsible, her action was aiming to provoke an armed response to the arrival of Iroh and Piandao whom she considered Fire Nation agents.[1][4]
- Thi was right-handed.[8]
