Biographical information

Personal life

Furukawa was born in Tokyo, Japan, but moved to the United States at the age of three and was raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles. He developed an interest in music as a child, studying the piano and then the viola, and was inspired to pursue composition after hearing John Williams' score for Jurassic Park.

Career

Furukawa began his career as an orchestrator on Star Trek: Enterprise in 2004, and would also later go on to work on the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated movie in 2008 and the Clone Wars television series in 2009. He worked on two video games in the James Bond franchise, Goldeneye 007 in 2010 and 007 Legends in 2012, and in 2016 composed the score for the video game The Last Guardian, garnering multiple awards for his work on the title and a nomination at the BAFTA Games Awards. In 2019, he began working on the Apple TV original series Mythic Quest, and in 2023 was composer for the video game Planet of Lana.

Furukawa also has an extensive portfolio in advertising, composing award winning campaigns for Mercedes-Benz, Canon, Sony, and Apple.
