Sanshur Keohso was a cotton vendor from North Chung-Ling and the main sponsor of the city's fair during the Festival of Szeto in 295 BG. As a member of the Keohso clan, he fiercely defended his clan's honor during the events of the Camellia-Peony War.[1]

History

Sanshur was the patron of the Festival of Szeto celebrations in North Chung-Ling. At the beginning of the holiday, he was approached in the fairground by Lady Huazo, leader of the Saowon clan. He informed the noblewoman that neither the fair nor the farmlands were for sale, and declared that not an inch of Shuhon Island would fall into the hands of the Saowon. To the contrary, Huazo responded that Master Linsu had already sold his salt-making operation and vacation house to her, and she intended to celebrate the festival in the town. The merchant asked why the lady needed guardsmen, to which she responded that they were necessary following Yun's attack on the royal palace. As she retreated, one of her vanguard spat on the ground, a grave insult on Sanshur and his clan. In response, Keohso men attempted to throw rocks at the women, which were deflected by Avatar Kyoshi's earthbending.[1]

After the Avatar broke up the fight and introduced herself to Huazo, Sanshur told the Avatar that the Saowon were fork-tongued friends. Nevertheless, he claimed to be thankful that Kyoshi was in the city to deal with the Saowon's presence. While the Avatar attempted to warn him not to throw rocks and instigate a fight, Sanshur responded that as loyalists to Fire Lord Zoryu, they ought not be punished. Hei-Ran advised the Avatar's party to leave, while Sanshur promised that the Keohso were on her side against the Saowon.[1]

The following morning, a supposedly spiritual message was found in the melonyam fields, promoting Huazo's son Chaejin as Fire Lord. Tensions between the Keohso and Saowon were greatly inflamed, and Sanshur arrived at the center of town with a force of seasoned fighters from his clan. He refused to believe that the spirits had left the message, claiming that it was nothing but Saowon treachery. At his signal, a Keohso battle line began edging forward. Kyoshi ordered both clans to stand down, but Sanshur rebuked her authority. A true fight broke out between the clans after Rangi punched Koulin of the Saowon in the face, although neither side used firebending or sheathed blades, due to the restriction on Agni Kais during the festival.[2]
