Quiyue was the leader of the Tiger Monkey Triad, an all-woman, Satomobile-focused triad in Republic City. She was an earthbender and metalbender well known in Republic City's underground tunnel racing scene.[1]
History
Quiyue grew up with a younger sister, Kyoko. Their parents unfairly favored Quiyue for being a "superior" bender. The sisters received no money from their parents when they passed away, leaving them penniless. Quiyue and Kyoko lived on the streets for some time, finding some success from running coins, pickpocketing, and stealing from the wealthy. They would even periodically break into vulnerable shops.
Kyoko eventually took the money they had saved up and left Quiyue to make her own fortune.[2] Kyoko cut all ties to Quiyue when her older sister refused to follow her into her new, legitimate business career.[1] In spite of this incident, Quiyue continued to deeply care about Kyoko.[3]
Quiyue ended up becoming the leader of the Tiger Monkey Triad, with the organized crime unit coming to treat her with considerable respect and reverence.[1] She became part of the triad's heavy involvement with Republic City's automobile scene, and participated in tunnel races in the Republic City underground.[1] Quiyue recruited Zolzayaa as her second-in-command and her trusted confidante.[4] During "bending doubles" street racing, Zolzayaa would be the one driving, while Quiyue would use her bending to hinder the other vehicles. Their combined skill and expertise allowed them to dominate tunnel races in the Tiger Monkeys' heavy and durable racer.[5]
After some time, Kyoko, now CEO of Harmony Park Corporation, tried to crack down on tunnel racing, hoping to stamp out competition for the legal, above-ground races she was organizing.[1] Quiyue's feelings became somewhat conflicted, as even though she was the leader of a triad involved in the underground races, she also did not want to see her sister get hurt.[3] Zolzayaa was the only other person in the racing scene who knew that the two were in fact sisters.[1]
Physical description
Quiyue bore a striking resemblance to her sister, Kyoko.[6] She was older than most people involved in Republic City's underground tunnel racing scene.[4]
Personality
Quiyue was deeply reserved and mostly silent. The few words that she did speak were often imbued with wisdom.[3] She had a quiet but commanding presence as her triad's leader.[1] Her typical behavior stood in sharp contrast to her demeanor while racing. She was known to cackle wildly as she zoomed past her competitor with ease, while having a maniacal glint in her eye.[3]
Abilities
Quiyue was a master earthbender and metalbender. She often shaped new parts for her racer with her bending, helping it to go ever faster with the aid of new technologies. In combat, Quiyue was able to quickly turn the earth and stone around her into sticky mud to trap any opponents. She also showed considerable physical prowess whenever she needed to charge at her enemies. The mobster also had an analytical mind, and she was able to rapidly assess whatever situation she was in.[3]
