Monk Pasang[2] was the High Monk of the Southern Air Temple at the time of Aang's disappearance.
History
Monk Pasang was among the group of monks that informed Aang of his identity as the Avatar when he was just twelve years old, doing so earlier than normal due to the threat of war with the Fire Nation.
It later came to his attention that Monk Gyatso had been attempting to preserve some of Aang's childhood by allowing him to play games as opposed to focusing on training. Even though Pasang was sympathetic to Gyatso and Aang, acknowledging that the guardian was only trying to do what was best for the boy, he made the decision to send the Avatar away to the Eastern Air Temple to complete his airbending training, concluding that they needed to do what was best for the world.
Monk Pasang was killed along with the rest of the Air Nomads when the Fire Nation attacked the four air temples.[1]
Personality
Pasang was a wise and patient man who was aware of Aang's role as the Avatar and was willing to sacrifice Aang's childhood for the sake of ensuring balance in the world. As the High Monk of the Southern Air Temple, he was well-respected as a decision maker.[2] Of the council members who spoke to Monk Gyatso about Aang's relocation to the Eastern Air Temple, Pasang seemed to be the most sympathetic to Aang and Gyatso's close friendship.
