Masaru was a technologist who used her skills to provide for her family in the Lower Ring of Ba Sing Se, though she later wished to turn over a new leaf.[1]
History
Masaru was born in the Upper Ring of Ba Sing Se, but when her mother was betrayed by a close business contact, the family landed in abject poverty in the Lower Ring.
Masaru became a thief to provide for her family, but her criminal antics only disappointed her mother, who saw it as yet another betrayal. Masaru wanted to become someone her mother could be proud of, so she left home with her pet sparrowkeet, Bao, and decided to turn over a new leaf. She met Tao, Sarnai, Jing, and Quartz, a group of people who became her traveling companions. Masaru was able to finally connect with people who didn't expect anything of her except friendship.[1]
Personality
Masaru was bold, impatient, and talkative. She dedicated herself to aspiring to excellence and would often be inclined to stand up to others abusing their power, as well as outperform authority figures and to openly call out the unworthy actions of her friends. This also led her to be inclined to pulling off certain ridiculous stunts.[1]
Abilities
Masaru fought by making use of technological innovations. She could deploy smoke bombs to obscure her surroundings, and could also use getaway traps.[1]
