Biographical information
Both of Maria's parents are artists: Her Polish mother is an oil painting restoration artists, while her Chinese father is a sculptor. Growing in this enviroment, she knew she would dedicate her life to art. Maria Zhang was born in Poland and when she was around 1 year old, moved to Beijing, China, where she spent her childhood and attended school. One summer, when she was 12 years old and visiting Poland, she saw a newspaper clipping of a community theater group's casting call, and so Maria and her sister applied. Later, she moved to Los Angeles, where she went to USC for acting. In her junior year, she participated in a theater play called Amsterdam, directed by Lilac Dekalb Neri, and later was part of independent short film All I Ever Wanted, directed by Erin Lau.[1]
