Mamamaril was the best hunter of the Lambak clan during the early era of Roku. She was tasked with guarding an earthbender security force after the Western Kingdom Trading Company arrived at the clan's secluded island.

History

When Malaya was a young girl, Mamamaril taught her most of what she came to know about hand-to-hand combat.[2][3] Malaya would often meet with Mamamaril on the occasions she returned to the village after becoming a scout. The hunter gave the younger woman lessons on how to improve her bow and spear techniques, and provided her with some insight into why one of her traps might keep coming up empty.[2]

After several earthbenders from the Western Kingdom Trading Company were captured by the clan in 66 BG, Mamamaril and Kamao were put on duty to guard them in their bamboo cages, which were held up high in a grove of Greywoods.[1] Malaya came to free the earthbenders, loosing an array of arrows which shattered the cages. Meanwhile, Gyatso saved the earthbenders by using a cushion of airbending. Mamamaril and Kamao both shouted in surprised confusion, and a confrontation began between the guards and the interloper Air Nomad.[3]

When Gyatso managed to hold off Kamao and send him flying to the wind, Mamamaril slipped behind Gyatso, throwing her spear at his back. Despite Malaya's worries, Gyatso was able to pivot away and knock the spear aside with his staff before it could hit him. Malaya tried to loose an arrow at Mamamaril during the fight, but it was sent off course by Amihan. At the end of Malaya's fight with Amihan, the young woman found that Mamamaril and Kamao were both unconscious and tied up together, with Gyatso relaxing and idly blowing a leaf into the air.[3]

Physical description

Mamamaril kept her black hair cropped short. She was burly and usually wore a wanoh loincloth beneath a black, sleeveless tunic, even though the wanoh was typically reserved for men.[1]
