Kiitsu Uwir was the last surviving member of the Uwir family, the founders of the Raven Eagle Hall for Martial Arts in Old Cranefish Town. Although Kiitsu had no personal skill at martial arts, ownership and management of the martial arts hall lay with him.[1]

History

Kiitsu was a descendant of Nokkah Uwir, who founded the famous Raven Eagle Martial Arts Hall back when Republic City was still Cranefish Town.[2] Kiitsu showed no talent for martial arts himself, but always displayed kindness and sportsmanship during his training alongside many people at Raven Eagle. Kiitsu eventually took over managing the financial and logistical needs of the hall, while the hall's reigning master, An Chodry, cared for the martial side of things. She often deferred to Kiitsu on the operations of the Hall and how they connected to the community.

Kiitsu secretly dreamed about devoting his life to art, and the loft above the Hall where he lived was brimming with canvases and painting supplies. In spite of this, caring for the Hall still currently took most of his attention. The Lis and the Chens started to harangue him to use his family's extensive contacts to help the town resist outsider interests and purchasing power, with developers starting to move into the district. However, he noted multiple times that it was not his job to do this.[1] Kiitsu supported An Chodry in continuing the Hall's tradition of the Raven Eagle as a place of learning, not a pseudo-political celebrity martial arts committee.[3]

It was also no help to Kiitsu that a group of wayward students formed something close to a makeshift triad to deal with outsiders intimidating the locals, calling themselves the Cranefish Irregulars. He became lonely and overworked, and looked for help in dealing with the issues in Old Cranefish Town.[1]

Personality

Many knew Kiitsu as a kind and sportsmanlike person. He was not convinced that modernization was bad for Old Cranefish Town, as long as it was done so respectfully. Kiitsu was particularly thoughtful, and could help look for nuanced solutions to troubling problems.[1]
