Biographical information

Personal life

Fialkov was born in Sacramento, California, but was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, to study theater and film, graduating with a BFA in writing and directing. After working in the film industry in Boston, he moved to Los Angeles in 2001 and began a career as a graphic novelist. He married author Christina Rice in 2007 and they have one daughter.

Career

Fialkov began his career in 2000 writing and directing the comedy film Real Things, before working as a production coordinator on the television series Pet Star in 2002 and Life's Funniest Moments in 2003. In 2008 he become an executive producer and lead writer on the web series LG15: The Resistance, and followed this with writing credits on The Crazies, Chicago Med, and Ultimate Spider-Man. Between 2016 and 2017 he wrote three episodes of the science fiction drama Incorporated, and a year later was executive story editor and writer on 11 episodes of the CBS drama series Wisdom of the Crowd. After writing an episode each of Skylanders Academy and Young Justice, he became a co-producer and writer on the military drama series The Code in 2019.

Fialkov's first graphic novel, Elk's Run, was released in 2007 to great acclaim, being nominated for seven Harvey Awards. This was then followed by the comic series Tumor in 2009 and Echoes in 2010, with both again being nominated for awards. He began writing for the DC Comics series I... Vampire in 2011 as part of the title relaunch The New 52, continuing until the series' end in April 2013. During this time, he also worked on the titles The Last of the Greats for Image Comics and Doctor Who for IDW Publishing.

After finishing his work with DC Comics in 2013, Fialkov began writing for Marvel Comics, first on the series Ultimate Comics: Ultimates in 2013 and then for Ultimate FF in 2014. In late 2013 he began working on the independent webcomic The Bunker, which was subsequently picked up by Oni Press and began a traditional printed release in February 2014. The publisher also picked up another pitch by Fialkov, ultimately titled The Life After and which debuted in July of that same year.
