Personal life

Bennett received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2006.[1]

Career

Though Bennett’s post-secondary studies focused on studying music, specifically playing the classical saxophone, she ultimately decided to switch career tracks to become a storyboard artist. As opposed to joining a visual arts program at a university, Bennett instead took classes at Concept Design Academy that focused on storyboarding and design, while also self-training her drawing abilities using traditional methods like pencil and paper, as well as tools like Photoshop.[2][3][4]

Getting her start at Warner Bros. Animation in 2011, Bennett's first credit was on the animated superhero series Young Justice as a cleanup artist; she would continue to work as a storyboard artist on several animated superhero films while at Warner Bros. such as the direct-to-video film Superman vs. The Elite. Bennett would later cite her background in the superhero genre, and her experience choreographing action for characters with different fantastical abilities, as useful when it came to her work as a director on all of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power's five seasons. In spite of the challenges of demanding production like She-Ra, Bennett worked to create a collaborative environment with her artists and fellow directors in order to problem-solve production hurdles collectively and help mitigate the effects of the crew being overworked.[5]
