Jasper was a vengeful Earth Kingdom Army officer during the late Hundred Year War. Seeking to resist the Fire Nation in any way possible, he attempted to recruit Jasmine Island protectors to bolster his forces under false pretenses.
History
The leader of a contingent of Earth Kingdom troops, Jasper was utterly devoted to fighting the Fire Nation. At one point, a young Jasmine Island volunteer named Ogo joined Jasper's force to help in the war. Though Jasper was thankful for this aid, he did not hesitate to use the volunteer as bait during an operation against the Fire Nation military, resulting in Ogo's capture.[1]
One day in 90s AG, Jasper and his contingent ventured to Jasmine Island. The officer falsely told the natives that Ogo had heroically fallen in combat, allegedly requesting that more of his compatriots join the fight before his demise. Using this false story as a rallying cry to inspire more Jasmine Island protectors to help the Earth Kingdom, Jasper asked for volunteers to join his contingent at the frontlines. However, even his own soldiers were uncomfortable with their commander's deception, and Jasper's lies were eventually exposed.[1]
