It is a long-haired, white, dog-like creature often kept as a pet.[1]

History

A herd of goat dogs was kept on the grounds of the Avatar mansion, where they grazed the lawn and kept the grass at an even length.[2]

A goat dog was present when Avatar Aang built a new zoo in the Agrarian Zone of Ba Sing Se for Kenji, the zookeeper. When Aang blew his bison whistle to call for the zoo animals, many domesticated creatures, such as the goat dog and a small child's pet cat, accidentally responded to the call. The animal appeared in the cage of an elephant mandrill, along with several breeds of cats.[1]

Anatomy

The goat dog has a short, squat build, with a round body supported by stout legs and hoof-like front paws. It has a long, shaggy white coat that covers its entire body aside from its paws. The hair on its face is curtained, splitting at the snout. It has short, erect ears and a brown oval-like nose as well as a long, fluffy tail.

Behavior

The goat dog's hair covers its body almost entirely.

Goat dogs have a calm demeanor and seem to be comfortable around humans. They eat a diet of mostly grass.[2] They also have the ability to herd themselves.[3]

Connection

The goat dog draws influences from a number of small dogs, including the Yorkshire Terrier, Shih Tzu, West Highland Terrier, and the larger Old English Sheepdog, and a small hoofed animal, such as the goat or sheep.
