History

After Aang, Katara, and Sokka were invited to a meal at the Foggy Swamp village, they were offered one of these giant flies to eat. Sokka took a big bite out of a roasted giant fly to prove his point that the visions they saw in the swamp were caused by lack of nourishment.

Anatomy

The giant fly is strikingly similar to the normal fly, but is much larger in size. Although flies are usually adapted for aerial locomotion, the giant fly has a pair of relatively small wings compared to its body. The first segment of the giant fly is its head, consisting mainly of the antennae, the mouth, and two compound eyes. The secondary structure is made up of several segments which include the wings and legs.
