He voiced the warden of the prison rig in one episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender. He also voices Koh in Netflix's live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Biographical information

George Takei was born George Hosato Takei on April 20, 1937, in Los Angeles, California.

Personal life

Takei came out as homosexual in 2005 and married his partner, Brad Altman, in May 2008, shortly after California legalized gay marriage. Their marriage was unaffected by Proposition 8 in November 2008, where voters chose to re-illegalize gay marriage, but which was later overturned by a Federal District Court in 2010.

Career

Takei began his career in 1955 with an uncredited role in Godzilla Raids Again, released in the United States as Gigantis, the Fire Monster, and also had a role in a 1964 episode of The Twilight Zone. He is best known for his role as Sulu on Star Trek from 1966 to 1969, and again from 1973 to 1974. He played Sulu in six Star Trek Movies and provided his voice for several Star Trek video games. He appeared as Sulu once again in one episode of Star Trek New Voyages in 2007. His most recent major role was twelve episodes in the NBC drama Heroes between 2007 and 2010. He also starred in the 2011 film Larry Crowne alongside Tom Hanks, and was one of the competitors in the 2012 season of Celebrity Apprentice.
