Anatomy

The fox antelope has the head and horns of an antelope, but the body of a fox. Like a fox, the fur on its upper body is rust-red colored, while its underbelly, the area around its eyes, and the tip of its fox-like tail are white.

Behavior

Like the real-life antelope, the fox antelope seems to be a herbivore with a liking for prairie grasses and similar plants.

Connection

The horns of the fox antelope resemble the distinctive spiral horns of the male blackbuck native to the grasslands of the Indian sub-continent. In body shape and coloration, the fox antelope resembles the red fox.

Trivia

• Fox antelopes appear on the cover of Beasts of the Four Nations: Creatures From Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, but are not given a detailed entry inside the book.
