Deer dogs are also known to inhabit Port Chameleon Bay. Their vocalization is called barking.

History

In the past, deer dogs lived wild in the Si Wong Desert, roaming its dunes. However, at some point, they were domesticated, kept as pets in the areas around the Misty Palms Oasis.

In 296 BG, a group of deer dogs in Port Chameleon Bay barked at Avatar Kyoshi and Rangi as they walked toward Madam Qiji's teahouse where they hoped to find bending masters to train the former.

In 171 AG, a deer dog was leisurely sitting on the porch of a house when Mako and Bolin ran past in an attempt to lose Macao and Lily.

Anatomy

The deer dog is a quadrupedal animal with brown fur going down its back and sides, cream-white fur covering its underbelly, and a lighter shade of brown coloring its tail and muzzle. It has a set of antlers protruding from its skull.

Connection

The body of the deer dog mostly resembles an Appenzeller Sennenhund or a crossbreed of a Rottweiler and a German shepherd, all of which are breeds of domesticated dog. Its antlers resemble those of a type of deer, most notably the white-tailed deer.
