Chanyu was the leader of the League of Shattered Skulls, a death cult that sought to dominate the four nations.[3]

History

Chanyu was born into the Kiyat tribe,[1] which lived in the rocky wastelands of the Earth Kingdom. He was a spiritual adept for the entirety of his life, and tribal leaders soon learned to trust his warnings of sudden storms and earthquakes.[2]

He began to wield immense power in exchange for the blood of humans. When an entity bestowed this gift on him, he began to appear taller and stronger, yet also hunched and demonic.[4]

He later became the leader of the League of Shattered Skulls, a death cult devoted to Father Glowworm that wished to cause chaos throughout the world. Meanwhile, his brother, Murong, rose to become the Mountain Leader of the Kiyat tribe.[1] Chanyu personally led part of the Shattered Skulls' army to confront one of the leaders of the forces of the four nations.[3]

Trivia

  • Chanyu was an Inner Asian title used by nomadic leaders from the 1st century to the 5th century, most notably used by Xiongnu leaders such as Modu Chanyu.
  • Chanyu's tribe, the Kiyat, shares its name with a historical Mongolian clan from the real world. Notably, Genghis Khan's Borjigin sub-clan was started by a member of the Kiyat clan.
