The game features hand-drawn 2D animation that follows the aesthetic of the series, proprietary rollback netcode, and full cross-play across multiple platforms.[1] The game is set to be released in Summer 2026, with a closed alpha test running from December 5 to December 7, 2025.[2]
Overview
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is a fighter rooted in the spirit of elemental mastery. Designed for both newcomers and veterans, it channels the energy of classic fighting games while breaking new ground in movement, style, and combat expression. Built with a focus on fluidity, responsiveness, and online integrity, the game invites players to discover what it truly means to fight with purpose. Hand-drawn in 2D, it is crafted to preserve the style and expressive animation of the original series.[1]
Modes
There will be local and online versus modes, a single player campaign with an original narrative, combo trials, and a gallery mode.[1]
Gameplay
The game offers a "flow system" with movement centric gameplay.[1]

There will be 12 playable characters at launch, with more planned to be released via a season model.[1] Players can select one of three support characters for each main playable character to influence their fighting style and grant special moves.[1][3]

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is a four button fighter, with each button doing something different whether you are standing, crouching, or in the air.[6]

Light In the Dark (When under 25% health) At low health, Korra enters a shorter version of the Avatar State. If activated at the same time as actual Avatar State, greatly boosts Chi regeneration rate. |

Trivia
- The game was originally announced without a title on February 15, 2024, for early release in 2025,[7] but was subsequently cancelled later that year.[8] Developer Gameplay Group International was founded on the grounds of reviving canceled games, with a number of employees from the original title returning to work on the game.[9][10]
- Various informational gameplay videos were released for the game following the announcement of the closed alpha.[11]
