Aiko was a member of Jasmine Island's protectors during the late Hundred Year War. She helped to defend the island's people from the Fire Nation military during "The Devastation".

History

Aiko was a born into a family with a proud martial tradition, as her ancestors had traditionally served as protectors for many generations. When the Hundred Year War erupted, however, the family's values began to shift; the clan increasingly regarded it as their duty to not just shield Jasmine Island at home, but to venture across the world to fight the Fire Nation's tyranny to prevent its aggression from ever reaching their home. As Aiko grew up, she saw her aunts and uncles, her parents, and finally her older siblings leave the island to fight in the Great War. The family's actions were not uncommon. Over the course of the Hundred Year War, it had become normal for Jasmine Island protectors to ultimately leave their home to fight as volunteers against the Fire Nation.

Eventually, Aiko was left as the oldest member of her family who still lived on Jasmine Island. Her relatives had charged her with protecting her little brother Chiyo. Though she resented being left behind, Aiko saw it as her duty to honor her oaths. She faced true conflict when a strong Fire Nation force led by Admiral Yueya attacked Jasmine Island, launching a murderous campaign later dubbed "The Devastation". After the initial surprise attacks led by Captain Zhao, Aiko rallied around a veteran protector named Akataa, and tried to fight off the invaders. Together with Akataa, Basalt, Siku, and Fu Meili, Aiko later encountered Fire Nation soldiers led by Captain Lu Ten, who actually opposed Yueya's rampage. The protectors allied with Lu Ten, and together worked out a plan to stop Yueya. This culminated in a battle where Aiko and her friends defeated the admiral, helping to save their home.

Personality

Aiko was a dutiful person who strove to protect her home and family at all costs, a duty which had been honored in her clan for generations.

Abilities

Aiko was a fairly powerful firebender, capable for creating short bursts of superhot flames. As a result of her deep devotion to the protection of others, Aiko was skilled in taking hits intended for others.
