Ta Min visits Roku at the Southern Air Temple to deliver a request from Sozin.

Production notes

Continuity

• For Fire Nationals, cutting one's hair beyond the customary length is usually a sign of public atonement, whereas shaving it off completely signifies a complete denouncement or rejection of nationality. Roku later shaves his head completely. This implies that Roku rejects his nationality.
• Gyatso practices airbending by shooting pies at Roku and Sister Disha, a practice he later passed on to Aang.
• Sozin claims the Earth Kingdom has been attempting to expand its borders since before Kyoshi died.
• Roku's studies of the transitions between Avatars led him to the conclusion that the period between one Avatar's death and the next Avatar coming of age is the perfect opportunity for bandits, merchants, or government to make advances, though nothing too bold because it would risk them becoming the first target of the new Avatar.
