Biographical information

Personal life

Chau was born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to a family of Chinese and Vietnamese descent. When he was around six years old, his family moved to Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City), and then moved to France at the age of seven due to the Vietnam War. After a year, they moved to the United States. Chau was educated in Washington, D.C., before moving to Los Angeles for college.

He continues to live in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter.

Career

Chau has had a number of diverse roles in his career. One of his more well-known roles is Dr. Pierre Chang in ABC's Lost. His latest projects include portraying Jules-Pierre Mao in the cult hit SyFy/Amazon Prime science fiction series The Expanse, and has lately had roles in Warner Bros.' Birds of Prey and Disney's Raya and the Last Dragon.
