Production notes
Continuity
- Zeisan's science tutor, seen by Sozin in the prologue,[1] reappears in this chapter as his agent. Her name is revealed to be Dalisay.
- The Dragonbone Catacombs are mentioned as a large collection of scrolls and knowledge, often explored by Sozin, Roku, and Yasu as children. The catacombs were first introduced in the episode "The Avatar and the Fire Lord", which put a great focus on the backstory of Roku and Sozin.[2]
- Fire Lord Taiso's traditionalism, first mentioned in Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game,[3] is explored to a greater degree in this chapter.
Character revelations
- Dalisay was Zeisan's girlfriend at one point.
- Taiso would have chosen Zeisan as heir to the Fire Lord, but he dismissed her potential as Crown Princess due to her lack of firebending.
- Sozin has a long-held interest in obscure and ancient knowledge which relates to power sources.
Trivia
- According to a restricted scroll kept by the Fire Sages in the Dragonbone Catacombs, there is a firebending technique that grants the user immortality which is rarer than blue fire, fire breathing, and lightning generation.
