It continued to manufacture dirigibles and other flying contraptions after the end of the war, though it suffered from the loss of its biggest customer during peacetime.

History

During the Hundred Year War, Sparrowkeet Air helped the Fire Nation invent and innovate their dirigibles. After the war, their CEO, Yuzhen Sr., felt no remorse for their actions, and felt that they had not profited off the war in any way. However, in his old age, the day-to-day running of the company went to his son, Yuzhen Jr., the company's president. Yuzhen Jr. attempted to make amends by hiring from impoverished communities and giving back to the Earth Kingdom, but the company struggled in peacetime as the Fire Nation no longer had need of war balloons. The company was on the edge of bankruptcy, and Yuzhen Jr. cared deeply about protecting the workers whose livelihoods depended on the company.[1] At some point, Sparrowkeet Air established a facility and their presence within Yu Dao.[2]

A small, abandoned shrine with Air Nomad iconography was found buried under a Sparrowkeet Air factory, and the corporation contacted Qian Yu and her team of experienced archaeologists, asking them to excavate the ruins. Yuzhen Sr. assured Qian Yu that any artifacts that were found would be preserved and returned to Avatar Aang. Yuzhen Sr. believed they would recover nothing, but after the team uncovered a valuable artifact, Yuzhen Sr. intended to sell it to the highest bidder.[3]

Qian Yu took the artifact from the company, believing that it rightfully belonged to the Avatar. Yuzhen Sr. was furious, and while Yuzhen Jr. was not enraged, he still considered Qian Yu a thief, and wanted to sell the valuable artifact in order to generate an influx of cash that could save the company. They chased Qian Yu across the Earth Kingdom in a huge airship serving as their flying quarters, and watched the area between Boat Bottom and Yu Dao like an eagle hawk. The money they spent on going to such an extent was only a fraction of what they expected to make by selling the artifact. Qian Yu was portrayed as a notorious thief, and a large bounty was placed on her head.[3]
