"That was obviously a stupid order and we were never going to obey it."
Joonho was the captain of Sulan's Smile, a pleasure craft belonging to the Fire Nation Royal Family. In 295 BG, he was tasked with escorting Avatar Kyoshi out of the Fire Nation after the resolution of the Camellia-Peony War.[2]
History
After the resolution of the Camellia-Peony War, a palace minister arranged transport for Kyoshi. The following morning, the Avatar found Joonho and his crew waiting for Kyoshi at the docks. The crew obeyed the Avatar as she ordered the ship to sail to a dark patch of the Mo Ce Sea and anchor there. Joonho waited for her next order, and expressed confusion when the Avatar told them to stay put until she returned, noting that there was nothing to see. Before telling the captain that there used to be something there, Kyoshi plunged into the sea.[2]
As the Avatar struggled in the water following her meeting with Avatar Kuruk, Joonho and his best swimmers rescued Kyoshi, bringing her up to the side of the boat. As the captain and crew surrounded the Avatar, Kyoshi expressed her irritation that they had disobeyed her order to stay put. After Joonho pointed out that it was obviously a stupid order, Kyoshi drooped her head on the deck and closed her eyes, mumbling to Joonho how he could think he could defy his Avatar.[1]
One month later, the pleasure boat's crew brought Kyoshi to Yokoya before her final confrontation with Yun.[3]
Physical description
During his first trip with Kyoshi, Joonho was a man with whiskers "like spruce needles".[2]
Personality
Joonho was a man of common sense. He respected the Avatar enough to follow her commands, but would not obey any obviously rash or stupid orders.[1]
