Hibiki was the leader of the Badgermole Triad, a Satomobile-focused triad from Republic City mainly composed of street children.

History

Hibiki was the leader of the Badgermole Triad. After Republic City banned street racing, he and the triad found a workaround in the form of the city's old mining tunnels. Originally excavated for mining crystal deposits, the triad took over a portion of the tunnels and used their bending to widen and reinforce them to form racing circuits.

At one point, Hibiki was approached by Kyoko, who offered to make him a professional racer for the Rolling Harmony Raceway, an automobile circuit her company built. However, Hibiki viewed Kyoko as an outsider, and refused. Hibiki originally partnered with Zolzayaa for the tunnel races, but she left the triad in order to join the Tiger Monkey Triad to better hone her skills. Hibiki viewed this as a betrayal, but he still retained romantic feelings for her, and hoped that at some point in the future they could reconcile. After Zolzayaa's departure, Hibiki partnered with fellow triad member Ona for the races.

Hibiki eventually desired for the triad to go legitimate. To that end, he learned of an abandoned Satomobile testing facility, and wished to buy it so as to convert it into a legitimate racing track. Lacking the yuan to buy the track himself, he sought investment and support from the other triads.

Personality

Hibiki was fiery, dependable, and generous. He took full responsibility for the triad, taking credit for their mistakes but not their successes. Despite the loyalty this gave him from the triad, he made sure not to take advantage of their loyalty any more than he had to. However, because of the pressure he put himself through, he did not take kindly to those who betrayed his generosity. This led him to shun Zolzayaa after she left their group for better opportunities with the Tiger Monkey Triad, despite his feelings for her.

Abilities

Though young, Hibiki was a skilled earthbender due to his experience modifying the underground tunnels into racing circuits. During races, he would control the ground beneath his Satomobile so as to allow his driver to have complete control.
