Personal life

Willis received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Film Studies from Tufts University in 2009.[1]

Career

Though initially interested in working abroad in a diplomatic or educational career, Willis found herself inspired to become a television writer after watching the 2004 reboot of Battlestar Galactica, being impressed with how its writing used allegory in subtle ways regarding contemporary issues.[2][3]

For several years, Willis worked in Los Angeles as a production assistant, gaining experience with different departments at various film studios and agencies, and making connections with other creatives in the industry.[1][4][3] Willis has worked primarily on shows based on franchise properties, from being a writers' assistant on the horror series The Exorcist, to leading the writers' room as an executive story editor on the animated action-adventure series My Adventures with Superman.[1] After working on the final two seasons of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power,[3] Willis was recruited for the writers' room of Jurassic World: Cretaceous Camp during its early development;[5] later, Willis was tapped to write for Star Trek: Lower Decks, an animated comedy with stories about low-level staff that Willis related to her own experiences as an assistant in Hollywood.[4]
