Rei was a headstrong inventor from Omashu. She was deeply committed to the war against the Fire Nation, becoming a one-woman wrecking machine with her various new gadgets.[1]
History
Rei was an engineering student in Omashu, and one day hoped to study in Ba Sing Se. She changed her plans when she learned just how dangerous the Fire Nation was.
After dedicating herself to the war effort, Rei put herself in harm's way multiple times to sabotage the Fire Nation. She ended up dousing firebenders and sabotaging vehicles by herself. She eventually developed a unique kind of projectile-shooting backpack. Rei guarded this closely most of the time, knowing the Fire Nation would love to seize an invention of the sort.[1]
Minh eventually joined up with a large group of rebels and refugees, fleeing the Fire Nation's General Uyanga. She gave minor help to the group as they traveled all the way to the Western Air Temple. Minh was present when two giant statues fell, blocking a major passageway in the temple. This caused the group to divide over their strategy. Weili, leader of the refugees, wanted to leave the temple, while the rebels' leader, Haoran, was certain that the Fire Nation would catch them if they tried to flee. As relative outsiders, Minh, Rei, Si Nong, Kyung, and Yuka were asked for their help in deciding what to do.[2]
Personality
Rei knew that her daring plans were risky, but she wanted to take action rather than stay safe. In theory, she loved working with her new companions, Si Nong, Kyung, Minh, and Yuka. However, she often found they did not share her zeal for precision, making her plans somewhat more haphazard than she would like. Nevertheless, Rei relied on her comrades to help call her out whenever she had overcommitted to her own plans and solutions.[1]
Abilities
Rei was brilliant at developing new gadgets. One of her unique inventions was a backpack that used springs to hurl exploding grenades, spheres, and rocks at high speeds. She usually strapped this to her back most of the time.[1]
