He was one of the writers for Avatar: The Last Airbender, and also handled timing, animation, and supervising direction for several episodes. He was credited as a storyboard artist for one episode of The Legend of Korra.

Kim attended Hanyang University in South Korea, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Drama.
