Qi Wei was a member of the Jasmine Island protectors during the 1st century BG. Born into the rich Qi family, she sought a life of adventure and excitement away from her privileged but constrained upbringing. This caused her to join the protectors and eagerly assist them once the organization started to oppose Magistrate Emerald's conspiracy to annex Jasmine Island into the Earth Kingdom.
History
As a scion of the Qi family, Qi Wei grew up with a lot of safety and comfort. Conversely, she was an adventurous spirit who loved the wilderness, and thus distanced herself from her family's "fixed" structures to freely travel around Jasmine Island. After she had explored the entire island, Qi Wei worried that she had outgrown her home and sought new opportunities for excitement.[2][3] To this extent, she joined the island's traditional security forces โ the protectors โ though initially considered her service in the organization quite dull.[3]
At the time of Qi Wei joining the protectors, the latter were in crisis due to the machinations of Magistrate Emerald, the civilian representative of the Earth Kingdom on Jasmine Island.[4] Emerald was organizing a creeping coup, undermining the island's old power structures to eventually annex it into the Earth Kingdom, though he did so slowly and covertly.[5] The protectors were among the organizations targeted by Emerald, and he managed to gradually dismantle them by replacing them with Earth Kingdom soldiers who could allegedly better defend the islanders. Ultimately, Qi Wei became one of the few loyalists who remained protectors even as their organization crumbled,[4] considering it exciting to be part of a potential anti-Earth Kingdom resistance force.[3]
The situation changed when Emerald imprisoned two Guiding Wind revolutionaries, namely Fengying and Sakuru. This drew the attention of the Guiding Wind's leaders, Khandro and Zeisan, who traveled to Jasmine Island to help their followers. Conversely, Zeisan quickly realized that Emerald had largely subverted or disempowered the island's leadership, and thus opted to covertly ally with the few remaining protectors. She informed them of her suspicions regarding the magistrate, and asked them to help rescue Fengying and Sakuru to disrupt Emerald's schemes. The protectors readily agreed, and Qi Wei alongside Ukiuk, Pushi, Sukaya, and Baljin subsequently broke into the local Earth Kingdom base.[2][6][7] This mission ultimately led to a series of events which revealed Emerald's conspiracy to the public. Together, the protectors and Guiding Wind members foiled the magistrate's plans and secured Jasmine Island's independence.[6][8]
Personality
Qi Wei craved excitement, initially finding comfort in exploring the wilderness of Jasmine Island. Similarly, she was mainly motivated in joining the protectors because it offered potential chances of adventure. Accordingly, she deemed the idea to fight the Earth Kingdom fun instead of dangerous. In interactions, Qi Wei was also very straightforward and open-minded.[2][3]
Abilities
In battle, Qi Wei fought with two tea harvesting sickles which were connected with a chain. As a curious and quick-thinking individual, she was also good at coordinating her fighting moves with those of her allies.[3]
