Personal life

Heder was born the son of Helen, nรฉe Brammer, and Dr. James Heder, a practicing physician. Heder and his parents moved to Salem, Oregon, when he was two years old. He attended Walker Middle School in Salem and graduated from South Salem High School in 1996, where he was on the swim team and was a member of the Drama Association.

Heder lives with his wife Kirsten Heder, whom he married in 2002, in Los Angeles, California. The couple have a daughter and a son, born in 2007 and 2009 respectively.

Heder is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served an LDS mission in Japan, from which he learned to speak Japanese. He, his brothers, and his father are scouting enthusiasts, with Heder and several of his brothers becoming Eagle Scouts. He currently serves as a Scoutmaster.

Career

Heder had his first big break in film as the title character of the 2004 hit comedy Napoleon Dynamite; he later reprised the role in the 2012 television series version. After his success with Napoleon Dynamite, Heder and his film co-star Efren Ramirez filmed a series of commercials to promote the 2005 Utah State Fair, appearing as their characters from the film. They also reprised their roles in a self-parody sketch called "Napoleon Bonamite" on the animated series Robot Chicken. He later starred alongside Rob Schneider and David Spade in the 2006 sports comedy, The Benchwarmers.

Heder also turned to voice acting, with one of his noteworthy credits being in the web series Woke Up Dead.
