Manatee whales have also been domesticated by Fire Nationals to serve as a mode of transportation, being used to pull boats that lack engines or sails.

History

A manatee whale was used to transport the children of Fire Lord Ozai, Princess Azula and Prince Zuko, as well as their friends, Mai and Ty Lee, to Ember Island.

Anatomy

The manatee whale's skin is maroon-brown on its back and tan on its underside. It has small ears and small eyes, a large nose, and a somewhat plump snout, with short whiskers coming off the sides of its cheeks.

Behavior

Manatee whales are used to pull boats.

Wild manatee whales are very gentle and leisurely animals, spending most their time floating in the ocean and eating seaweed. When induced to do so, they can swim fairly fast though not as much as elephant kois. Domesticated manatee whales exhibit great strength when pulling boats, but maintain their leisurely attitude by not caring much for their surroundings. As a result, people can also easily ride them.

Connection

The manatee whale is a cross between the manatee and the whale. The face of the creature is similar to that of a manatee, while the rest of its body is a whale.
