Fu Meili was a member of Jasmine Island's protectors during the late Hundred Year War. A member of the Fu family, she strove to help restore her clan's former glory by harnessing science and technology. To better understand all facets of Jasmine Island, Fu Meili joined the protectors, and thus ended up assisting in the defense of her home from a surprise Fire Nation military attack during "The Devastation".

History

Fu Meili was a member of the Fu family, once one of the most powerful and prestigious clans on independent Jasmine Island. By her birth, however, the family's status had considerably declined. Growing up, Fu Meili often heard tales of her ancestry's greatness. She started to feel that she should have inherited a "great legacy", but its current reality was instead "much depleted and tarnished". This extended to Jasmine Island as a whole, with the small state having declined in various ways due to the Hundred Year War's global impact. Fu Meili thus began to study history, science, and technology, seeking ways to uplift her family and the island. Yet all her discoveries, ideas, and inventions were constrained by a lack of resources, as the war had greatly diminished trade.

Seeking to further increase her knowledge, Fu Meili eventually joined the protectors to study these traditional security forces. As Jasmine Island had remained formally neutral in the Great War and seen little warfare during its course, she did not expect to actually see combat. Jasmine Island suffered a surprise attack during her service among the protectors. A strong Fire Nation force led by Admiral Yueya invaded the small state, launching a murderous campaign later dubbed "The Devastation". After the initial surprise attacks led by Captain Zhao, Fu Meili rallied around a veteran protector named Akataa, and tried to fight off the invaders. Together with Akataa, Aiko, Basalt, and Siku, Fu Meili later encountered Fire Nation soldiers led by Captain Lu Ten, who actually opposed Yueya's rampage. The protectors allied with Lu Ten, and together worked out a plan to stop Yueya. This culminated in a battle where Fu Meili and her friends defeated the admiral, helping to save their home.

Personality

Fu Meili was devoted to improving the status of her family as well as Jasmine Island as a whole. Both invested in and burdened by her belief that she had a great legacy to uphold, she spent much time understanding all her home had to offer regarding resources, ideas, society, and institutions. In this way, Fu Meili hoped to be able to improve these, for example by making new technological inventions. In this regard, she was generally optimistic and even a bit naive.

Abilities

Fu Meili was very creative and knowledgeable in many fields of study. She used machinery in combat, most notably an automated tea-harvesting harness with elongated wooden swinging arms.
