Personal life
Kim received his undergraduate degree in English from Princeton University. He currently lives in Manhattan Beach, CA, with his wife, Jennie.[3]
Career
Prior to his TV writing career, Albert Kim was an award-winning journalist who wrote for numerous national magazines, including Sports Illustrated, Entertainment Weekly, People, and Esquire. From 2005 to 2007, he was Senior News Director at ESPN, where he created and executive produced the entertainment news program for two years.[3][4]
Throughout his career, Kim has been a leader in diversity efforts in the media. He has worked closely with numerous organizations including CAPE (Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment), AAJA (Asian American Journalists Association), and AAWW (Asian American Writers' Workshop). In 2001, he created a sportswriting internship program in conjunction with the AP Sports Editors to encourage minority college students to pursue careers in sports journalism.[3]
He worked as a writer for Dirt (2007-2008), Leverage (2009-2010), as a producer/writer for Nikita (2010-2013), and was the showrunner of Sleepy Hollow (2014-2017).[5] In August 2021 it was officially announced that Albert Kim would be the showrunner for Netflix's live-adaptation original series of Avatar: The Last Airbender.[1]

- During the course of post-production, Kim said he had never watched the The Last Airbender, and acknowledged the criticisms and desires of fans.[6]
