- This article is about the meditating baboon spirit. For the monkey without a face, see curly-tailed blue nose.
The baboon spirit is an anthropomorphic resident of the Spirit World, often found meditating near the realm of Koh.
History
The baboon spirit was meditating in the Spirit World when he was approached for help by Aang, who sought the location of the Moon and Ocean Spirits. The spirit brusquely told the Avatar to leave, but Aang persisted in asking him for help, causing the baboon spirit to become more and more agitated as he tried to continue his meditation. With Aang failing to heed his request, the spirit told him to follow a Spirit World firefly as it flew past, sighing in relief when the Avatar departed.
The baboon spirit was visited again by Aang when he returned from his encounter with Koh, the Face Stealer. After Hei Bai helped the Avatar to return to the mortal world, the baboon spirit expressed his pleasure at Aang's departure, much to the annoyance of Hei Bai, who transformed into his monstrous form and struck the baboon spirit with a huge energy blast, sending him flying.[1]
The baboon spirit directed Aang to Avatar Kuruk on Aang's second adventure through the Spirit World, although Aang did not keep the memory of their encounter.[4]
Personality
The baboon spirit prefers tranquility to aid him in his meditation, and can become very irritable if someone disrupts this serenity. He will attempt to ignore anyone that disturbs him, and will only help them if it becomes necessary to return to his meditation. He speaks with a distinct accent.[1][2]
