Pepper was a flying bison who chose Jinora as its companion. The creature flew Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo around during their quest to locate Avatar Korra.

History

In an attempt to locate Avatar Korra, Pepper was saddled up by Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo to take them out of Republic City. With the preparations done, Jinora seated herself on Pepper's head, took the reins, and urged the bison to head out.

Pepper flew across the United Republic of Nations and, although they stopped regularly so Jinora could search for Korra's spiritual energy, they eventually made it into the Earth Kingdom. While flying over the Foggy Swamp, Pepper was suddenly pulled down by vines. Although the bison crashed in the water, Meelo quickly freed the animal with his airbending, allowing their journey to continue. When Jinora sensed Korra's location by the banyan-grove tree, Pepper exited the greenery and flew toward the center of the swamp. There, they picked up Korra and Toph Beifong, before making their way back to Toph's house inside the swamp. By nightfall, Pepper started on the journey back to Republic City, carrying the three airbenders and the Avatar. However, he was guided to make a detour via Zaofu, as Korra wished to stop Kuvira. The following day, Pepper was taken by Meelo and Ikki on a rescue mission to retrieve Jinora, Opal, and Korra. Ordered to dive, the bison swooped down in the heart of a whirlwind created by the two girls and took off again after they had secured a wounded Korra. Pepper flew everyone back to Air Temple Island, where the bison was petted by Opal.
