She wrote the third episode of the first season of Netflix's live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender,[1] and was later announced as the showrunner for the second and third seasons.[2]

Personal life

Boylan was born in 1977 in the USA and graduated from Hofstra University in Long Island, New York. After graduating, she was a Fulbright Scholar at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, where she studied German and English Literature. She married filmmaker and writer Eric Heisserer in 2010.

Career

Boylan began her career in 2008, working as an executive story editor and writer on the first three seasons of the drama series Leverage. She wrote two episodes of the ABC medical drama Off the Map in 2011 before becoming a co-producer and writer on the fourth season of the crime series Castle in 2012. Departing the show at the end of the season, she then became a producer on fantasy series Once Upon a Time, in addition to writing five episodes across the second and third season. In 2014, she was a co-executive producer and writer on the first season of the DC Comics series Constantine.

Between 2017 and 2019, Boylan was co-executive producer on the Marvel Comics series Cloak & Dagger and The Punisher, additionally writing two episodes a piece for each series, and in 2021 she returned to write one episode of the revival series Leverage: Redemption. In 2023, she was co-executive producer and writer on the first season of crime drama Poker Face and co-executive producer on four episodes of spy thriller Citadel.
