Nyn Chei was an inventor and engineer from the Fire Nation who lived during the era of Roku. Her innovations heavily contributed to the design of a new coal-powered fleet for the Fire Nation Navy.[1]
History
Nyn Chei used to work with Massak, a master boatwright of the Southern Water Tribe, who was also her lover. Massak's work with Nyn Chei was pivotal in the development of the Fire Nation's fleet, but she fell out with her lover after Massak discovered that her work was used to create a defensive patrol ship, rather than a trade ship that could swiftly reach the Water Tribes as promised. After this, they did not speak to each other for years.[2]
Nyn Chei continued to contribute greatly to the design and invention for the Fire Nation's coal-powered fleet, and had a real hope for connecting the world, believing her ships would unite the nations and lead to greater academic discourse. To that end, she reached out to fellow inventors from all nations in hopes of collaboration after falling out with Massak, as she needed materials from all over the world.[1]
