Fume[1] was a Kyoshi Warrior who lived on Kyoshi Island by the late Hundred Year War. She was one of Suki's followers, accompanying her during a series of aid missions in the Earth Kingdom inspired by Avatar Aang. After the Great War's conclusion, Fume helped Fire Lord Zuko as part of counter-insurgency operations in the Fire Nation.
History
Hundred Year War
Fume grew up in Suki's village on Kyoshi Island during the late Hundred Year War. She experienced Team Avatar's visit and Zuko's raid on Kyoshi Island in 99 AG, helping to rebuild her home village afterward. When the leader of her Kyoshi Warrior team, Suki, asked her comrades whether they were willing to venture to the Earth Kingdom mainland to help others just as Avatar Aang did, Fume volunteered alongside Aika, Mira, and Rie.[2]
After leaving their home per ship, one of the team's first destinations was Razor Reef in the southern Mo Ce Sea. There, the group sought a local martial arts master named Tidao, only to discover that the latter had long left the location. Yet they used the opportunity for a friendly sparring session with some local adventurers who were guarding an archaeologist, Wen, at Razor Reef. They then continued their journey to the mainland.[3]

By spring 100 AG, Fume and the rest of Suki's team were assisting refugees on their way to Ba Sing Se. They eventually began acting as security guards at a hidden ferry terminal at Full Moon Bay.[2][4] A few days later, Fume and her comrades gathered food at an Earth Kingdom forest when Fume discovered evidence of a heavy fight between animals. Suki identified some scattered fur as belonging to Aang's flying bison, Appa. The team subsequently followed the trail of destruction through the forest, finding Appa alone and injured. After calming the flying bison, Fume and her friends fed and treated Appa, only to be surprised by Azula's team. A battle erupted once it became clear that Azula was an enemy of the Avatar. Fume battled Mai, but was quickly incapacitated by stilettos.[5]
Serving among Zuko's bodyguards
After their defeat, Fume, Aika, Mira, and Rie were brought to the Fire Nation and imprisoned at the Capital City Prison.[6] There, they were later joined by Ty Lee who had betrayed Azula. Despite their previous enmity, Fume and and her comrades befriended Ty Lee who also taught them chi-blocking. All of them were released after the end of the Hundred Year War, and they attended Zuko's peace speech in the Fire Nation Capital together.[7]

Having resumed her service as a Kyoshi Warrior, Fume continued to serve in Suki's team after the war. In 101 AG, she and her comrades were requested by Mai to serve as Zuko's bodyguards due to repeated attempts on his life.[8] For the next year, Fume served in the Fire Nation. When the New Ozai Society launched a rebellion against the Fire Lord and attempted to capture or kill him during an ambush in the woods near the Fire Nation Capital, Fume, Suki and Aika attempted to fend off the assault. They were eventually overwhelmed, but rescued by the timely arrival of reinforcements led by Mai, Ty Lee, and Iroh.[9]
