Metog was the leader of the Peace Lily Society, an anti-war and anti-military movement that formed in response to the conflicts of the early 170s AG. Metog was more zealous than most of the group's members in her commitment to non-violence, and she strongly opposed the use of spirit vine energy.

History

Metog was a lecturer at Republic City University,[1] but left her profession at some point to become the elected leader of the Peace Lily Society. Metog went a step further than the rest of the society by swearing off all worldly possessions and only using what was donated to her.[2]

Metog and the rest of the Peace Lily Society were driven to stop the use of spirit vine energy, as they opposed the use of technology and weapons invented through the oppression of the Earth Kingdom's people. The group expanded its rhetoric to speak out against the technology's dangers, and many of the group's members began to protest outside the laboratory of Juniper Kim, a former Earth Empire scientist who developed peacetime uses for spirit energy canisters.[3][4] Metog personally led direct protests outside the laboratory, insisting that action had to be taken to remove the weapons if the authorities would not do it.[4] When the spirit energy canisters went missing, the Peace Lily Society were among the suspects, as well as the Rising Flame Triad and the Equalists.[3][4]

Personality

Opponents of the Peace Lily Society found Metog to be an insufferable hypocrite, appearing above all conflict while being incredibly condescending and passive-aggressive. It was impossible for her to forgive and forget the effects of the war. While Metog meant well, there was no room for compromise in her world. Many remarked that it was lucky Metog took the path of non-violence, as she would have been deadly otherwise.[2]

Abilities

Metog was an accomplished earthbender, but only used her powers defensively. Her signature moved include raising a defensive stone shield, and she relied on her fast movement to keep herself out of the worst of harm's way.[2]
